Paharpur Buddhist Vihara (Sompura Mahaviahara)

One of the largest Buddhist monuments in the sub-continent. 

Paharpur Buddhist Bihar known as Sompura Mohavihara is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the largest known Buddhist monastery in the south of the Himalayas has been excavated. This 8th-century A.D. archaeological find covers an area of 27 acres of land. The entire establishment, occupies a quadrangular court, measuring more than 900ft and from 12ft – 15ft in height with an elaborate gateway complex on the north. There are 45 cells on the north and 44 on each of the other three sides with a total number of 177 rooms. The architecture of the pyramidal cruciform temple is profoundly influenced by those of Southeast Asia, especially Myanmar and Java is one of the best places to visit in Bangladesh.

Barisal

Gateways to the Water World.

Barisal is a port city in Bangladesh surrounded by the river and endless tracts of greenery slacked from the rest of the country. Bagerhat

Largest Muslim Monument in the sub-continent.

Bagerhat known as a heritage city declared by UNESCO, an open-air museum of medieval architectural heritages formerly known as Khalifatabad, was founded by the Turkish general Ulugh Khan Jahan in the 15th century. The city’s infrastructure reveals unusual technical skill and an exceptional number of mosques and early Islamic monuments, many built of brick are more ancient than anywhere in Bangladesh except Dhaka. The historic city, listed by Forbes as one of the 15 lost cities of the world, has more than 50 structures built in the Bengal Sultanate style of Indo-Islamic architecture. Sixty Dome Mosque is one of the largest mosques and represents the flavor of the traditional orthodox mosque, the only example of its kind in the whole of Bengal and the largest Muslim monument in the sub-continent. Saint Martin Island

Coral Island of deep Sea

Saint Martin Island, the only Coral Island in Bangladesh- is inhabited by 7 to 8 thousands of people. Most of them are dependent on fishing or fishing-related activities. There are beautiful corals on the southern corner of the island. Chera Dwip, another small island should be visited on your trip by boat. The water is much clearer here compared to another beach. It is possible to snorkel here if you carry your own equipment. It is fantastic if you stay there during the full moon time.

Gaud City Rajshahi

Ancient Capital & Mosque City.

Gaud, pronounced Gour is a site of historical importance located in the India-Bangladesh border was a medieval kingdom that great heights in Pre-Muslim and Muslim eras from the 12th-14th centuries. It was the capital of the whole of Bengal at the time of the Buddhist Pala dynasty during the 7th-12th century.  The Hindu Senas established their capital here, after which the Khiljis from Turkistan took control for three centuries, to be followed in the late 15th century by the Afghans. Under the Afghans, Gaud became a prosperous city, surrounded by a fortified castle and a trench. Affluent with temples, mosques, and palaces, the city was visited by traders and merchants from all over Central Asia, Arabia, Persia, and China. This is a rich place to visit for history lovers.

Dhaka is the capital of Bangladesh besides the Buriganga River since 1608 and second, most densely populated city in the world.  It’s a center for Trade and Culture, with a long history as a seat of government. Sonargaon

Old Capital of Bangladesh.

Sonargaon or golden city, a historic administrative, commercial, and maritime center of Bengal in the Pre-Muslim, Muslim, and British period was the capital of Bangladesh for various times in history. It became the seat of the Hindu Deva Dynasty in the mid-13th century and ended in the early 14th century. Sonargaon was under independent rule for some years, before becoming a subsidiary capital of the Sultanate of Bengal. The city ended up when the Muslim rulers decided to move their capital to Dhaka in the 17th century. The British eventually took control of the region and later it was developed with a new neighborhood settled by wealthy Hindu merchants named Panam City. Now it’s a little more than a couple of villages with the distraction of attractive ruins. The Ishakha Palace now Folklore Museum, abandoned Panam Nagar, a cruise on the Meghna River, and a riverside lifestyle is a bunch of interests.

Kuakata is one of the rarest places which has the unique beauty of offering the full view of the rising and setting of red sun in the water of the Bay of Bengal in a calm environment. Chittagong Shipbreaking

Largest Ship breaking.

Chittagong Ship Breaking Yard, located in Faujdharjat under Sitakunda Upazila is the world’s largest ship breaking yard handling about a fifth of the world’s total. Hundreds of meters long, ferrying millions of tons of goods across the globe, the sheer size of these immense vessels is dying in the place. However, the destruction and final resting place of these steel giants is even more intriguing. Due to cheaper labor costs and fewer health and safety regulations that have to be followed, the developing world hosts the vast majority of shipbreaking efforts. This is a very unique place to visit yourself in Bangladesh.  A scene of the movie Avengers: Age of Ultron was shot at this place.
